Disney! Oklahoma! More National Parks!

Hi everyone! It's been a hot minute, so I wanted to take a moment to update my website and share some recent-ish news about what I've been up to this past year or so!

Since I haven't posted a blog update since before the pandemic, a LOT has changed around here. My husband Brad and I slowed down our RV travels and wound up settling full-time in the wonderful (and wildly underrated) city of Oklahoma City! We bought our dream home at the end of December 2020, and celebrated the new year with cheap Prosecco and DIY charcuterie plates, on a new bed that is practically the size of our entire RV. Luxury! Last year, we also created and launched our own company, Hello Ranger, a national parks community blog, podcast, and social app! We're honored to have been featured by magazines and websites like Travel + Leisure, The Wall Street Journal, Thrillist, The Washington Post, Outside Magazine, TripSavvy, and AFAR! Whoa! Personally, one of my biggest developments as a writer was getting more into Disney writing, freelancing for magazines and websites about a topic that's near and dear to my nostalgic heart. Of course, I'm still doing lots of writing focused on national parks and restaurants, and 2020/2021 saw my first stories for outlets like Eater National, USA Today, and Thrillist! Something I'm super proud of is the personal essay I wrote for The Oklahoman, a historic newspaper based in Oklahoma City, detailing our journey on the road, what it was like traveling as a gay couple, and what led us to OKC. The story was on the front page of the newspaper on October 11, 2020, aka National Coming Out Day. It was the first time in the paper's century-plus history that a gay writer was on the cover. I look forward to more national parks, more safe travel, more Disney, more food, and more exciting journeys and stories to share in the months and years to come! Stay tuned!
